About Us

Written by Kevin Barnes

It is a business support service for established small or start up businesses and individuals in the Tendring District.  Support will be in the form of mentoring and signposting to specialist services ensuring businesses in Tendring have an opportunity to start and flourish.

The Agency is a Community Interest Company run by a small, voluntary board of local business people, operated by volunteers with some support from Essex County Council. Experienced local business leaders are offering their time to provide the mentoring service.

The service is for small businesses wishing to expand and individuals with business start-up proposals based in the District of Tendring.

Tendring Enterprise Agency is based at the Essex Enterprise Centre, a popular centre on the Gorse Lane Industrial Estate in Clacton.  Clients of the Agency can experience established businesses at work and possibly take space in the Centre.

Richard Bailey - Chairman - Director - Mentor

With a track record in helping businesses relocate and solve property related problems, Richard is uniquely suited to help new and growing businesses setup and expand. Richard is a strong advocate of UK business, especially in the London and Essex areas, with a focus of making the latter the best business location outside of the former, which he believes can be done with the aid of top quality business support.

Alasdair Jones - Founding Board Member - Mentor

Having qualified as an NHS physiotherapist in 1998, Alasdair moved into private practice in 2002 and has owned his own healthcare business since 2007. That business has expanded from a single site to owning four clinical practices across Essex and a recent move to an exclusive site in West London. His experience at expanding businesses has made him one of the best mentors for business who are looking to expand their operations while maintaining the same level of service.

Julie Hepburn - Founding Board Member

Julie helps organisations in Essex grow by managing a successful business incubation centre. This success has been achieved through networking with other support organisations and spending quality time with early stage businesses, listening to their needs and offering the relevant support and guidance to enable them to achieve their aspirations.

Pamela Hatswell has worked in the personnel and finance fields for several companies, including Tube Investments and Coopers & Lybrand (now PriceWaterhouseCoopers).   After spending time with the British Forces Television Services in Germany, she returned to the UK and started looking for ways of earning residual income. She specialises in financial assessment, coaching, administration, writing and proofreading.
